I must apologize for not writing in a while. The Delta Clutch have
been busy messing about again in our studio and on the stage. After
doing some nice sounding recordings at a cool studio in Providence (Soundstation
7) with Tim O'Heir we've equipped our basement laboratory with some
modern technology. So far we have 8 new songs under construction. By
the time we are finished we hope to have 20 or so. They should be packaged
for your consumption sometime this summer or early autumn. The recording
has been a blast and it sounds great. In the meantime I am recording
some demos for Chick Graning's new project. I'll be remixing some Mother
Jefferson demos soon as well. Nate is producing some stuff for a new
boston act as yet nameless, Phil has been working on his solo stuff
as well as gigging with Buffalo Tom and The Bathing Beauties. Paul Myers
is drumming on some new demos for local group Asciento as well as doing
some gigs with them. Speaking of live gigs, we have been part of some
killer bills lately. Providence witnessed a wild night with The Shods
and Orbit. In Boston we opened for the legendary Ronnie Spector which
has to be right up with the Alex Chilton gig we did a few years ago.
We played a show at the Sky Bar with another cool Boston band, The Pills.
After telling us to turn down all night the owner of the club started
in on them, they had the balls to turn it up. It was quite a hoot. As
far as rock shows go, none of the bands that night were very loud to
begin with.
This month (Friday May 19th) we are playing a funky little place called
The Abbey Lounge. It's on the border of Cambridge and Somerville, MA
in Inman Square. I've seen one show there and I totally dug the atmosphere.
It reminds me of some of the pubs I used to play in England. Should
be loads of fun. The drinks are cheap. We are bringing Mr. North (from
Dublin) up to Boston and Providence for 2 shows to introduce them to
New England. By the way The Delta Clutch were nominated for Best Local
Band in the Best Music Poll by the Providence Phoenix. I'll try to keep
this more up to date. Recording. Recording. Recording. Double Album
? Canwecomein?
Over,
Chris Cugini (Aural Scientist)
